Mussel Harvesting and Cooking Demonstration

We will gather where the forest meets the sea to see first-hand how to forage for food in the intertidal ecosystems of the Oregon Coast, using sustainable techniques for harvesting. Alanna will harvest all mussels for the group to taste during the cooking demonstration.

We will discuss the general oceanography and ecology of our rocky shores, as well as identify various edible species that are abundant on our shores, including mussels, barnacles, and seaweed.

Witness a beachside cooking demonstration and tasting of our foraged goods, paired with local bread & cider.
